You have been thinking about proposing for a long time now, and you’ve never been so sure about anything as you are about this. First of all, congratulations! You are about to enter into an amazing season with your best friend. But before you can write the next chapter of your love story, you have to create a moment they will want to tell again and again as they show off that brand new ring. (it’s lovely, btw!). If you have been considering a Savannah proposal, I would love to help you out! As a Savannah couples photographer, I love working with people as they celebrate. Here is my guide on how to propose in Savannah!
The very first thing you need to consider is the season when you want to ask. It’s not exactly a secret that it gets hot during the Georgia summer. If you do prefer this season, I would recommend popping the question early in the morning before we reach the highest temps.
If you aren’t committed to summer, I would recommend either springtime, when you get those bright colors and cooler temps, or fall to propose, when you get fewer Savannah crowds and those luscious golden hues.
No matter what season you choose, you might want to consider a proposal either mid-morning or about an hour before sunset. During the middle of the day, you get that really harsh light, giving you unflattering photos. Stick with moments when the sun isn’t right above you so the lighting can be better diffused.

No matter how much you try, you simply cannot change the Savannah weather when you propose. The city gets the most rain throughout the summer, and the temps are the most unbearable during this time. Even if you don’t plan your proposal during this season, I would recommend having a backup in case of bad weather. Choose an indoor space or two you can have on standby in case the first option fails.
I always, always tell couples to have a professional photographer there to document the entire thing. This is a moment neither of you will want to forget for the rest of your lives, and you want gorgeous pics to show off! Find a photographer who is familiar with Savannah and knows how to document clients in the midst of the unique backdrops for when you propose. When you book me as a photographer, I can also make sure you get some celebratory photos directly after the big question!

Now, it’s time to find the right location for this moment. While I have a full list for you to check out, here are a few faves:
